The project “Strengthening the proactive response of criminal justice to human trafficking in Romania”
To address the programming priorities for Romania in the Annual Report on Trafficking in Persons of the US State Department (TIP REPORT 2019), International Justice Mission (IJM) proposed in 2020 a collaboration with the National Agency against Trafficking in Human Beings, DCCO and DIICOT by implementing the project “Strengthening the proactive response of criminal justice to human trafficking in Romania”.
Through the proposed project, funded by the US State Department, for a period of 24 months, IJM aims to support actors in addressing trafficking cases in a multidisciplinary, victim-centered manner.
- This will be achieved starting with 2021, through the collaboration of ANITP, DCCO and DIICOT, to achieve the following objectives:
- Objective 1: Strengthen the capacity of actors to use multidisciplinary techniques sensitive to the victim, for the identification, investigation and prosecution of TIP cases.
- Objective 2: Promote key government leaders and opinion leaders to strengthen victim protection and compensation policies and to support funding for the national strategy / action plans.
- Objective 3: Strengthen the quality of the provision of essential regional social services, by increasing coordination between front-line service providers and improving informed approaches to trauma, in terms of service delivery.
