Project Presentation

The project is funded by the Kingdom of Norway through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014, under the RO20 Program “Domestic violence and gender-based violence”.

The general objective of the project is to create an integrated system for providing assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the Romanian system of assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings to comply with relevant international instruments in the field by investing in human capital development and by evaluating the national assistance system for victims of trafficking in human beings. .

The main activities of the project are:

  • Evaluation of the national assistance system for victims of human trafficking in accordance with the standards on specialized assistance services approved by GD 1238/2007 and international standards and good practices;
  • Organizing two workshops to analyze the results of the evaluation and develop proposals to amend the legislation on protection and assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings;
  • Organizing two training sessions for specialists in the field of assistance provided to victims of human trafficking;
  • Organizing a campaign to prevent human trafficking for the Roma community and other vulnerable communities;
  • Organizing conferences for launching and concluding the project, for informing the media, representatives of civil society, NGOs with responsibilities in the field of providing assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings, on the objectives, activities and results of the project.

Project budget : 410,000 euros

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AS PART OF THE PROJECT

Activities under the RO20 Program

A1.1. Evaluation of the national assistance system for victims of trafficking in human beings

A1.2. Workshops to analyze the results of the evaluation and develop proposals to amend the legislation on assistance and protection of victims of trafficking in human beings

A2. Training of specialists with responsibilities in the field of assistance to victims of human trafficking

The training sessions were structured in two modules:

 

Module I included a training session of trainers, lasting 4 days, held in Bucharest, between 24 and 27 November 2015, supported by a team of 3 experts from Romania, Norway, respectively, a consulting expert of the CoE.

 

Module II included 5 training sessions, lasting 3 days, given by the Romanian expert in collaboration with a specialist trained in the first module, in the following localities:

  • Timisoara: February 12 – 14, 2016
  • Bucharest: February 24 – 26, 2016
  • Sibiu: March 9 – 11, 2016
  • Brașov: March 16-18, 2016
  • Iasi: March 23 – 25, 2016

The main topics addressed were: interviewing victims of trafficking in human beings, the national identification and referral mechanism, risk assessment, prejudices and stereotypes, protection of rights, recovery and reintegration of victims, prevention of revictimization.
